PFAS
PFAS are perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances. These chemicals are widespread and can be found all over the world.
Sampling for PFAS can be a challenge.
Regulatory screening and analytical reporting levels are in the parts per trillion — magnitudes lower than those normally encountered in contaminant sampling
and potentially interfering PFAS compounds can be found in all sorts of commercial and consumer products which means:
we can’t use some of the tools and materials we’ve relied on for the past 30 years and
we have to exercise extreme caution that we don’t cross-contaminate samples with clothing, PPE and other items typically found in our work space
In spite of these real-world limitations, Blaine Tech has successfully collected thousands of PFAS samples throughout the United States at:
Airports
Military Installations
Landfills
Industrial Sites
Fuel Terminals
Refineries
Successful sampling requires:
Advance Planning with the client to fine-tune procedures and select the most suitable equipment and materials for their site
Detailed Preparation by project managers and technicians
Careful Execution of PFAS specific sampling procedures in the field
PFAS sampling takes extra time, care and effort but we welcome that challenge and we look forward to supporting you on your next field sampling project.
