PFAS are perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances. These chemicals are widespread and can be found all over the world.

Sampling for PFAS can be a challenge.

• Regulatory screening and analytical reporting levels are in the parts per trillion — magnitudes lower than those normally encountered in contaminant sampling                    

• and potentially interfering PFAS compounds can be found in all sorts of commercial and consumer products which means:

  • we can’t use some of the tools and materials we’ve relied on for the past 30 years and

  • we have to exercise extreme caution that we don’t cross-contaminate samples with clothing, PPE and other items typically found in our work space

In spite of these real-world limitations, Blaine Tech has successfully collected thousands of PFAS samples throughout the United States at:
